Algeria: Mercedes, Renault cars to be put on sale by installments

The General Manager of the national company of industrial vehicles, (SNVI), Hamoud Tarzouti, has told Echorouk that Algerians will be able to acquire cars of the “Renault” and “Mercedes” type in Algeria itself through a hire – purchase option starting from next November 2014.

Mr Hamoud Tarzouti also said on the sidelines of an international showroom of automobile spare parts and equipment on Monday in Algiers that this formula was part of the government’s recent decision to set up consumer loans for national products in a bid to shore up the national economic sector in the face of a frenzied international competitiveness.

Such national products, including vehicles, will be manufactured in close partnership with a set of selected foreign firms notably with world renowned car-markers Mercedes and Renault, he indicated.

Mr Hamoud Tarzouti added that the projected partnership with foreign companies in the industrial vehicles’ sector would not only be confined to Renault and Mercedes, but would also be extended to include other global firms with the aim of also manufacturing buses, trucks and tractors.

Such vehicles will be available for sale by installments for the benefit of private Algerian citizens and also for various enterprises across the national territory, he further explained.

He also underlined that a sizable quantity of these vehicles manufactured in Algeria itself and coming in the framework of the newly-devised consumer loan economic strategy, would also be exported to a number of Arab and African countries in the very near future.
