Algeria minister to receive Saif El Islam Gaddafi’s captors

Shortly before a presidential summit due to be held by Algeria, Tunisia and Egypt, minister of Maghrebin affairs Abdelkader Messahel discussed events development in Libya with two a delegation from the city of Zintan.

Messahel Sunday renewed Algeria’s “constant position” in support of the UN-sponsored political process to end the Libyan crisis.

The foreign ministry said in a release that the Algerian position is attached to “equality in dealing with all the Libyan parties and supporting the UN-sponsored political process.”

The meeting was based on perspectives on “the promotion of consensual and sustainable political solution for the crisis in Libya.”

The ministry added that the members of  Zintan’s delegation mad e apresentation about the Libyan situation and ways to settle the crisis.

The delegation hailed Algeria’s efforts to support the political solution as part of a Libyan agreement signed in December 2015.

The visit is part of meetings with Libyan personalities and Algeria’s efforts to reach points of view convergence.

This comes as a presidential summit will be held by Algeria, Tunisia and Egypt.

Zintan is considered as an influential factor. It had waged a fierce war with authorities in Tripoli and detained Gaddafi’s son Saif El Islam. It refused to hand him over to competent authorities.
