Algeria mobilises 500 doctors to examine 36,000 pilgrims

Algeria’s provincial medical commissions started receiving Algerian pilgrims to examine and vaccinate them according to new measures imposed by the Pilgrimage National Office.

  • More than 500 doctors were mobilised to detect pilgrims who can not perform the religious acts for health problems. They will examine 36,000 pilgrims.
  • The doctors will give the pilgrims advice about prevention against swine flu.
  • They will prepare detailed reports on every pilgrim affected by diseases mentioned in the red list set by the Algerian health ministry.
  • The check-up will start on Sunday throughout all the hospitals in Algeria’s 48 provinces until next October, according to officials at the commission.
  • A special commission at the ministry set 20 diseases which do not allow people to perform pilgrimage if they are suffer from them.
  • The list includes eight types of cardio-vascular, four mental and other respiratory diseases.
