Algeria mobilises over 5,000 Gendarmes
Head of training department at the National Gendarmerie Colonel Youcef Boulessnane said 5,600 officers will be mobilised in 2009-2010. Of them, some 2,000 student gendarmes will be trained at a school in eastern Algeria.

“Two training centres in southern Algeria will train gendarmes mobilised as border guards,” Colonel Boulessnane told Echorouk.

Head of communication at the Gendarmerie National Colonel Ayoub Abderrahmane said the Gendarmerie is preparing a security plan in coordination with the Algerian public works ministry on the East-West motorway.

1,570 new gendarmes at judicial police

A total of 1,570 students graduated from the Officers’ School in the province of Sidi Belabbes (west of Algiers). The school which includes three military barracks offers a two-year- training.
