Algeria: One million new job opportunities planned in tourism sector

The Minister of Tourism and Handicraft Industry, Mohamed Amine Hadj Said, has announced that a partnership convention with the European Union is underway with the aim of developing the training system in the national tourism sector.

Taking the floor on Monday evening at the opening of the second international workshop at the Méridien hotel conference hall, Mr Amine Hadj Said stressed that this projected overall assessment plan to be jointly carried out with European experts, was designed to  revamp the Algerian tourism sector to make it tally with modern International standards.

 The Minister also indicated that over one million job opportunities were planned to be created in the very near future with a view to giving a solid impetus to this flagging sector of activity in Algeria

 Mr Amine Hadj Said further underscored on this occasion the public authorities’ will to rejuvenate the tourism activities in the South of the country for the benefit of foreigners and Algerian citizens alike, through the adoption of most enticing touristic offers and the full adhesion of the national airline company “Air Algérie” in this vital field of endeavour.

 He also announced a newly-devised plan providing for the rehabilitation and upgrading of numerous hotels and tourism – related infrastructures in various parts of the country
