Algeria: Political activist’s killer is academic’s son
A court in Oran (west of Algiers) Tuesday continues investigations in the death of a member of the Coordination for Change and Democracy. More then 90 persons were heard including the victim’s relatives, neighbours, academics, students, political activists and gays, Echorouk has learnt.
- The main suspect is the son of an academic at the telecommunication institute in Oran. He is 27 and was arrested on Thursday after he had been under surveillance for a week. He works in an energy drinks production company.
- Ahmed Kerroumi’s body was found inside the headoffice of the Democratic and Social Movement (MDS).
- Security forces arrested the suspect following phone calls and scientific evidences including prints.
- The reasons behind the crime and the killers are expected to be disclosed in the next few days.
- Ahmed Kerroumi, 53, is an academician and a senior member of the MDS.
