The council of government is to meet on Tuesday under the chairmanship of acting Prime Minister Youcef Yousfi, to examine the content of the preliminary draft related to the National Service Act which is expected to include a set of fundamental and important amendments.

These projected amendments will deal with the proposed reduction of the duration of the national service for young draftees to just one year instead of the 18 months presently.

According to the agenda of the meeting, the Council of Government is expected to consider adopting a preliminary draft law containing the overhauled National Service Act, which means that the Government does not intend to include major amendments to the national service code of the 1974 edition, but prefers to highlight the new law and forsake  the old law on the matter.

The young people, who would have straightened out their position towards the national service by securing the relevant proof documents, are also expected through a government decision to benefit from vacant job opportunities in all of the administrative departments across the national territory.
