Algeria settles the situation of 657,000 people towards national service
The defence ministry Monday said national service centres are still open for 30-year-old people to settle their situation towards national service.
More than 235,000 situations were settled until December 31st. Of them, more than 3,000 people are living abroad while 657,000 stragglers.
The ministry said the number of citizens exempted from national service by virtue of a presidential decision reached 235,030 including 3,313 people living abroad.
It added that the situation of 657,117 stragglers was settled. It invites other stragglers to come to national service centres to settle their situation and obtain exemption card.
The military card poses an obstacle for many young people to get a permanent job.
The Prime Ministry banned a national service-related document in job applications but selected candidates should prove their situation towards national service later.
