Algeria still bans scholarships for Baccalaureate successful candidates
Algerian higher education ministry in collaboration with the national education ministry works on finding ways to reward candidates who excellently pass the Baccalaureate exams next year, Echorouk has learnt.
This comes as the number of successful candidates who continue their studies abroad is on the rise.
According to a recent report from immigration department at the French interior ministry, about 66,000 Algerians study in France.
The same sources say the higher education ministry stopped granting scholarships abroad due to high costs which are estimated at $100,000 per student. Algerian competences immigration caused $40 billion loss for national economy in 1992-1996.
The number of excellent successful candidates this year reached 60. The highest score was 18.45/20 in scientific specialty. They will be offered a trip to Malaysia.
