Algeria Telecom employees implicated in wasting public funds

Public prosecutor at the primary Court of Misdemeanors in Annaba, ordered in a late hour of Tuesday, five years of imprisonment against 11 employees at Algeria Telecom regional directorate of Annaba, on charges of wasting public funds with a financial value of 93 billion centimes, which the judicial experience and team of research and inquiry of the regional group of the National Gendarmerie, which took over the investigation in this case, after it was uncovered by the workers and employees in the company.
These material losses due to the officials, staff and the heads of the services of Algeria Telecom institution, by granting telephone lines for fixed-line phone for public institutions and administrative government organizations in the form of the University of Annaba, and a considerable number of colleges and university residencies, which benefited from the licenses to exploit telephone kiosks, that has been restricted at the level of the services of customers of the institution using fictitious names and other names of dead and insane people, which caused large financial losses for Algeria Telecom.
These telephone lines and kiosks were exploited for about five years, without cutting supply of using those phone lines or apologizing to the owners of these telephone shops, but a member of a syndicate uncovered the matter, and contacted those official parties judicially and using security in a detailed report that was distributed to several services, and then the General Prosecutor of Annaba judicial council ordered to open an urgent investigation into the case that led to the existence of dozens of telephone lines without identity, and stood on a range of abuses and violations, concerning the process of recording the names of those ghost customers, then both “D.Kh”, former unit manager at the level of the regional directorate of the pre-port, and “M.X”, former unit manager in charge of the tasks at the level of the Regional Directorate, in addition to “S.M” , a former director of the pre-port agency, who is currently without a position at the level of the Commercial Agency of the Bouni Municipality, and “A.F”.
