Algeria to open borders with Morocco for Gaza convoy
Part of the British convoy preparing to leave London for Gaza
Leader of Arab lawyers’ union in London said Monday Gaza convoy supervisors got an official approval from the Algerian authorities to open the closed borders with Morocco exceptionally.

Sabah Mokhtari told Echorouk Brtitish people were not surprised by Algeria’s exceptional decision as “the country’s reputation in sacrifices and solidarity is extraordinary.”

For his part, Abdelhamid Mehri, a member of the Popular Committee in Support of Palestine said the state minister Abdelaziz Belkhadem had informed him of the approval.

“The truck will enter Algeria loaded with aid. There is no need to add more on them but it is necessary to have more trucks. Gaza people mainly need medicines and electricity batteries,” he added.

Sabah El Mokhtari said George Galloway’s convoy to Gaza arrived to Spain on Monday and would leave for Tangiers on Tuesday.

He denied that the aid is for the Hamas movement or the Palestinian Authority though contacts were made with some activists.

“Once the British convoy arrives there, it will contact charity associations or active organizations to convey the aid to Gaza people regardless any political or doctrinal factors.”

The convoy of 110 vehicles left London for Gaza on Saturday to deliver £1m of humanitarian aid.
