Algeria vaccinates pilgrims against swine flu
Algeria’s national committee for swine flu prevention will vaccinate all the Algerian pilgrims and provide them with surgical masks, official said Monday.

“Saudi Arabia guaranteed to avoid contamination among the pilgrims,” Ismail Musbah told a radio channel.

“The committee did not give any instruction to stop the pilgrimage after a number of people were affected by the H1N1 virus,” he added.

He also said medical teams will be deployed in ports and ships to detect any contamination case.

“The committee will launch an awareness-raising campaign among pilgrims in collaboration with the religious affairs ministry and the pilgrimage office in the next few days.”

According to the official, the committee will step up prevention measures by reinforcing medical teams on medical centres in borders.

“Medical teams will be sent to summer camps. They will also keep watch on the participants in the 2nd Pan-African Cultural Festival in Algeria,” he added.
