National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong (R) talks to Algerian National People’s Assembly Chairman Abdelaziz Ziari at a meeting in Hanoi on January 19.

The Algerian National People’s Assembly Chairman’s visit to Vietnam is expected to boost cooperation opportunities between two countries.

  • Abdelaziz Ziari arrived in Hanoi on Tuesday for a four-day visit.
  • During a meeting with his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Phu Trong, the Algerian chairman showed his admiration to the growing role of Vietnam as a potential political and economic partner in Asia and the world.
  • The Vietnam-Algeria tie has stood the test of time for the past 48 years since the diplomatic relation was established in 1962, and it has been unceasingly promoted.
  • However, the two leaders agreed the fact that the mutual tie in economic, trade and investment has yet gone on par with their potentials.
  • Abdelaziz, who also met Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung on Tuesday, proposed the two governments working together to further facilitate businesses partnership.
  • Algeria would provide a gateway for Vietnamese goods to enter the African market and vice verse for Algerian commodities, they promised.
  • Vietnam and Algeria could exchange their potentials for cooperation in agriculture, food processing, services, and exploitation of oil and minerals.
