Algeria’s inclusion in US list is unfair, says Terrorisc expert
Algeria’s inclusion by US in the list of countries to be subject to additional security measures in airports is unfair as Algeria has made big sacrifices in its war on terror, expert says.
- “Algeria has been a model in the fight against terrorism while the world was just watching. It was fighting alone and its position has not changed,” Anne Giudicelli, a security expert at France-based Terrorisc told Echorouk on the phone.
- Speaking about Paris’ inclusion in the list, Giudicelli believes that the US decision is not convincing France. “However, Paris’ fears of possible terror attacks by Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb pushed it to agree with the US in its decisions,” she added.
- Asked about the possibility of attacking France, she said terrorists may target French people in places away from their country. “Al-Qaeda can do that with the help of groups working for it or those which sympathise with it.”
- The French expert believes that the Salafist Group can kill Pierre Camatte it says it kidnapped in Mali. “The terrorist group have already executed British hostage Edwin Dyer between Algeria and Mali.
- “Any sympathiser with those groups can target French people in anywhere in the world under this pretext,” she added.
