Algerian arrested for plot to bomb synagogue in US
The US police arrested an Algerian and a Moroccan man on Thursday for carrying out an attack plot against a New York synagogue.
- Ahmed Ferhani, 26, and Mohamed Mamdouh, 20, plotted to bomb a “major synagogue” in Manhattan and bought several weapons and an inert hand grenade from an undercover officer, according to US officials.
- Ferhani and Mamdouh were arraigned in Manhattan court Thursday. They were held without bail and face life in prison if convicted. Their attorneys said the two denied the charges.
- Authorities said Ferhani moved to the U.S. in 1995 from Algeria with two siblings and his parents.
