Algerian authorities to create two boards to regulate the market

Two National boards for fruits and meats will be created at earliest in a move to regulate the domestic market, the Algerian minister of agriculture and rural development Rachid Benaissa has declared.

  •
  • These two institutions will contribute to the regulation of the market that witnessed disturbances caused by speculation. On the other hand, they will support the actions led by both the National Wheat and Milk Boards to protect essential products from speculation.
  •
  • On the other hand, the ministry of agriculture will launch a census operation on the camels across the desert areas in a move to protect this species, shifting the interest to the stock-breeders in order to create jobs in those areas and boost production.
  •
  • The minister revealed that the number of camels in Algeria is estimated at 29 thousands scattered across 17 desert areas, while 8 thousand individuals are operating in the sector producing some 12 thousand tons of meat per year.
