Algerian authorities to pronounce on H1N1 vaccine

At last, the Algerian health minister yesterday revealed that the outcome of the analysis on the H1N1 vaccines will be made public today by the three laboratories, which have been assigned the task to test their efficiencies, announcing that the vaccination campaign will start the very next day.

  • The Algerian Institute for Pharmaceutical Products’ Control, the official body in charge of testifying the conformity of the vaccine with the medical standards, will disclose the results the tests carried out by the three laboratories, putting an end thus to 21 days of uncertainties that played on the nerves of millions of citizens.

  • The delay in giving the go ahead for the use of the vaccine was mainly due to worries raised by some experts that this later would induce side and unpleasant effects after use. In case where the vaccine was proved appropriate for use, the vaccination campaign will start on Wednesday in some 7000 centers scattered across the country.

  • On the other hand, medical experts have revealed that 90% of the viruses detected are linked to H1N1 putting the toll at 80 thousands cases over a month, while the number didn’t exceed 8000 in a recent past.

  • At a time where no other case was registered over the last 24 hours, the death toll was stabilized at 42 and 687 other cases were signalled.
