Algerian bans projects which were not launched in the last five years

The Algerian government cleaned up investments which were not launched during the last five years due to financial circumstances pressure. This means that people have to say “good bye” to equipment sector-related projects scheduled as part of the last five-year-plan and were not achieved.

A document from the finance ministry shows that cleaning up operations touched all the public investments included in centralized and decentralized sectorial programs and municipal development plans. Investment projects notified by the ministry between January 1st, 2010 and December 31st, 2014 will be concerned.

The same document says the cleaning up operation will continue until April 30th, 2016 and will be ended by a report from budget department.

The operation is very important in view to current financial conditions. It imposes a careful and strict endeavour in terms of budget commitments. It aims at reducing scheduled investment projects which face achievement difficulties, according to the same source.
