Algerian Customs confirm the reception of an offer by SGS
Director of Anti-Fraud at the General Directorate of Customs said the meeting which was held on July 2007 to study the offer by a Swiss company is now realized as the customs begun contacting the company “SGS†before the issuance of the supplementary Finance Act 92 of the current year, which provides for the appointment of foreign companies for control of goods and services in Algeria, including the monitoring of the value, quality, quantity and origin.

“The meeting actually falls within the normal series of actions by the Department of Customs to enshrine the principle of transparency in its dealings with the outer perimeter and the dealers and economists. The offer by SGS did not receive attention by the customs”, he says.

According to the text messaging n° 183 dates on July,9, 2007 the meeting which was held was to implement the request of the General Manager, as the point that have been discussed was the purchasing of a scanner.
