A parliamentary report issued of late exposed the disgraceful reception conditions of Algerian emigrants returning home via Algeria’s ports and airports, in the absence of complete CCTV inspection rooms, especially at the level of the ports, as well as the numerous harassment methods meted out to the hapless members of the Algerian Diaspora by some neglectful customs agents on the spot and the absence of special green corridors which are only set up during inspection visits by officials.

According to a report worked out by an MP representing the Algerian community of the 4th region of Europe except France and the Americas, Noureddine Belmedah of which “Echorouk” got a copy and which was addressed to the Chairman of the national people’s Assembly, the Foreign Minister, the Finance Minister as well as the Minister of transport and the Director of the national ports and the Director General of customs, this adverse situation facing the Algerian Diaspora members returning home has been monitored on the spot on the basis of  an inspection parliamentary mission to the airports and ports of the western cities of Oran and Tlemcen from 8 to 13 June 2015.

According to the fact-finding report, the Oran airport doesn’t fit originally as being dubbed as an international airport because it’s virtually obsolete in terms of traffic volume and proper amenities devoted to the incoming passengers who are often left in the lurch owing to the gross lapses and shortcomings prevailing inside the airport.

The reports said that this hackneyed airport is detrimental to the high reputation of Oran, noting that the reception conditions there are steadily going downhill, indicating that the relevant authorities scrambled some improvements that have not seen or known before, stressing for instance that the luggage came out well ahead the passengers’ departure.

The investigative report also highlighted the acute vulnerability of the large Oran airport is the absence of CCTV inspection rooms thus posing many security-related questions as well as the poor organization and handling of the endless queues of passengers waiting to check in before boarding their respective flights.
