Algerian forces killed, last week end, a terrorist and retrieved his weapon as well as destroying five caches where they recovered a considerable amount of war ammunition and some explosive powder, during a clean up operation in the forests of “Akfadou” and along the mountains of Tizi Ouzou and Bejaia, east of Algiers.

• Echorouk sources said that this operation is the second of its kind in the region by the first and fifth military regions which used the necessary equipment to penetrate into these frosts.
• The clean up operation came following information about the presence of an important terrorist group which used these forests as their main strongholds, starting from the forests of “Tagma” in the eastern regions of Yakouran about a week ago.

• Seven soldiers injured in a roadside bomb blast

• Seven soldiers belonging to the Algerian armed forces were injured following the explosion of a roadside bomb in the forests of Akfadou between Bejaia and Tizi Ouzou, east of Algiers, 65 km ffrom the eastern city of Tizi Ouzou.
• According to identical local sources, this explosion occurred immediately after the military services launched a clean up operation in the forests, as the roadside bomb was remote-controlled by a mobile phone as soon as the military personnel arrived at a narrow trail within the forest.
