Algerian gendarmerie: 23 terrorist kidnappings during three months east of Algiers
The phenomenon of kidnappings in Boumerdes, east of Algiers, noticed a dangerous rise compared to last year, as the National Gendarmerie recorded 23 cases of kidnapping and abduction during the first four months of 2010, a larger total than the one recorded during last year with 18 cases.
- The Algerian gendarmerie recorded a rise in the number of kidnappings in Boumerdes, east of Algiers, compared to last year, as there were 23 cases of kidnappings only in the four months of 2010, while in 2009 they recorded only 18 kidnappings.
- Sstatistics by the Algerian Gendarmerie on the sidelines of open doors organized at House of Culture Rachid Mimouni, show a rise in the terrorist assassinations and attempts to assassinate by 43 cases, while thy were 38 cases in 2009.
- Services of the National Gendarmerie also recorded 163 cases of written and verbal threats, a high figure compared to last year with 144 cases. They recorded 14 cases of murder only during the first four months of 2010 and 10 cases of murder and attempt to murder in 2009.
- Kidnappings notice an alarming rise because of the weakness of legislative measures that contributed to the weakness of the victims’ positions by adapting the payment of ransom in the most crimes, in light of the inability to free most of the victims in the cases of kidnappings, what requires obligation to find a legal framework which takes into consideration these circumstances, as well as tightening sanctions on the criminals in order to stop the phenomenon in the locality.
