Algerian giant “Cosider” to take part in Algiers’ Mosque project

The Algerian authorities are keen on relying on the national companies and give them the opportunity to benefit from the giant project initiated by the Algerian President to build Algiers’ “Great Mosque” with the participation of “COSIDER” construction alongside the international tenders for the 1 billion and over Euros project, reliable sources have revealed.

  • The National Company in charge of the building of Algiers Mosque will confer today with the companies that took part to the international bid of tenders a month after the initial deadline fixed to February 23, because of the small number of tenders at that time.
  • The Agency has called for an international bid on November 27, 2009 in a move to attract foreign companies and groups to build the Mosque. The legislation allows several companies to join their forces if their own capacities cannot stand for the building of the mosque.
  • The project is known as “The president’s project” will cost more than a billion Euros destined to be revised and will comprise several cultural and historical pools.
  • The Algerian authorities have ordered to start the works by the second semester of the current year after finishing with earthworks of the slope and the dislodging of the inhabitants as well as the companies on spot.
  • German companies have more chances to wrench the contract on account of their long and established experience in such giant projects as opposed to the Asian ones, the same sources revealed.
  • In this respect, Japanese, Chinese and Indonesian companies have lower chances against the Germans on account of the unsuccessful experience of the Chinese who failed to live up to the Algerian authorities’ expectations in the East –West highway, it said.
