Algerian illegal immigrants forgotten in Israeli jails

The Manager of the shooting unit of the Qatari TV channel Al Jazeera in Palestine, Mansour Al Abi, has revealed to the newspaper Echorouk that 4 young Algerians have been detained in the Israeli jail of Ramla for at least 2 years with no contact whatsoever with their families or with the Algerian authorities.

  • The Israeli occupation authorities have recently released after  9 days of detention, the head of Al Jazeera’s shooting unit in the occupied territories, Yemeni national, Mansour Al Abi, who was on board the “humanitarian spirit” ship transporting aid to the besieged population of Gaza.
  • Shortly after his release, Mansour Al Abi revealed to Echorouk that he had met 4 young Algerians in the Ramla prison where he was detained.
  • These 4 youngsters are experiencing an appalling ordeal in this Israeli prison with no contact with the outside world, he said.
  • They seized the opportunity of Mansour’s liberation to make their voice heard beyond the walls of the penitentiary.
  • These 4 young illegal migrants who planned to cross in a clandestine way the Mediterranean towards the Italian coasts were the victims on the way of a swindler who took them to Greece instead.
  • They were later flabbergasted when they discovered that they were treacherously “sold” to the Israeli occupation authorities who put them in prison after trying them on charges of illegal immigration.
