Views of the cultural and artistic family in Algeria varied on Khalida Tomi’s end of mission as a Culture Minister, as there are people who described her departure as a “loss”, and others who think that the decision came “too late”, but they seemed to use a lot of optimism after the appointment a minister from the cultural field and expressed hopes that they wish she will realize them in her term.

Head of the Algerian Writers Union, Youcef Chakra defended Khalida Toumi considering that she raised a lot of new challenges during the 12- year phase of a mission in the cultural sector, as her term also noticed errors: “What concerns us as a Union of Algerian Writers is the cultural mobility and all that is a positive and durable action”.
“She did what she could do and worked hard. We have all seen how she has become an upscale speaker in the Arabic language over the time, as we noticed a strong development of cultural projects. In addition to her success in raising the workers grade in the cultural sector to the level of workers in other sectors in terms of social conditions.”
“AWU gave its opinion at the appropriate time. Appointment of Nadia Charabi Labidi as Minister of Culture must now continue the progress in the sector. She will find the right atmosphere to work if she could invest in the energies and rectify errors. I wish she will conduct an extensive and in-depth dialogue with partners at the earliest time.”
President of the Djahidiah Cultural Association, Mohammed Tine, focused on the future of the sector after the arrival of Charabi saying: “I am very optimistic about the appointment of Nadia Charabi, because she is careful and prudent and from the sector”.
“I We wish she will be given an intellectual and cultural importance that she deserves instead of applying the entertainment culture. Charabi is known for her specialization in sociology and cinema.”
