Algerian Little Girl awarded “International Quran Prize” in Egypt
An Algerian girl “Wahiba Toumi” from Setif (eastern Algeria), was the star of Sunday evening in an Egyptian ceremony, where she was awarded the global prize for learning by heart and reciting Quran, in an event that was supervised by the President Mohamed Morsi.
The award ceremony noticed an extensive media coverage and was aired
by several satellite channels, as a large number of viewers watched
the Algerian girl “Wahiba Toumi” while she was stepping up the
platform of the conference hall of Al-Azhar Mosque, where the
President Mohamed Morsi gave her the first prize and asked her about
her age, and she is 13. The Egyptian President was amazed and said;
“Mashallah, you honored your country”.
Egyptian Ministers, officials, Imams and professors of Al Azhar,
diplomats of many countries, attended the ceremony.
Echorouk called the father of Wahiba, who was in Egypt, and he said;
“My daughter was the bride ceremony and won the admiration of the
audience in view of the skills she showed during the competition,
which lasted ten days, through which members of the jury, which
includes professors from different countries, expressed their
admiration for the little girl, who showed amazing performance while
reciting the holy Quran”.
According to the Algerian Professor Kamal Kadda, who was a member of
the International Jury, Wahiba Toumy defeated the leaders of reading
Koran in the world and won the admiration of the Egyptian president ,
because she has important capacities of major in learning by heart,
reciting, and amazing mastering of the provisions of motet, adding
that she is also very smart, and has an unbelievable ability to learn
words by heart.
When Echorouk called Wahiba’s father on Monday, it learned that they
went to the Bank of Egypt in Cairo for the disbursement of the award
check, which worth 60.000 pounds, equivalent to 11.000 dollars, as it
is the most important prize in the section of the conservation and
improvement and Motet.
It is worth mentioning that the international competition of the Holy
Quran is organized by the Republic of Egypt each year, and is ranked
the largest competition in the world, as recommend by professors and
imams of Al-Azhar Mosque and the Grand Mosque of Mecca, in which
contestants from different countries paticipate.
The little girl “Wahiba Toumi” lives in the Municipality of Bir
Hedada, south of Setif (easern Algeria). She leaned by heart the
entire holy Quran when she was 11. Today she entered the
international arena thanks to her skills in citing the Koran and the
provisions of the Motet.
