Algerian operator committed to acquire the aluminium wastes at any price

A company’s manager specialized in the Aluminium industry has surprised the National Committee of ferrous and non ferrous wastes exporters by his commitment to buy all the quantities of aluminium destined for foreign markets with 20% higher then the prices applied on the market.

• “Algal Plus” general manager Farid Dekkar has indicated” Why do we have to import Aluminium products manufactured abroad with hard currency, while we can we can produce them domestically with reclaimed aluminium?”

• This decision comes in the wake of the revelation made by the chairman of the national committee of ferrous and non ferrous wastes exporters, who called on the Algerian authorities to lift the embargo on the export of Aluminium wastes.

• Dekkar addressed the Committee members saying “Everybody should know that Algeria possesses factories designed for the collection of aluminium, and I’m ready to bye all the products that you intend to export with the price you fix”

• He has indicated that he imports around 1 million Euros of aluminium per month to meet his factory’s needs. He employs 300 people around O’clock.

• Those who call for the lift of the government’s embargo on the export of aluminium put forward the argument that Algeria doesn’t posses required capacities to collect these wastes in comparison to Italy or Romania, adding that the export of the Aluminium would inject hard currency in the treasury likely to be used for the import of manufactured Aluminium products.

• They consolidated their arguments by the fact that the sum of money garnered by the treasury through the export of the wastes comes at the third position after the tax on hydrocarbons and its by-products.

• While Farid Dekkar declares that the decision made by the government to stop the export of aluminium has reduced the treasury’s loss to $32 million per year in comparison to $ 65 million before, the other party has indicated that this decision caused the treasury a loss estimated at dozens of billions.
