Algerian pilgrims get 36,000 surgical masks

Algerian health ministry provided the pilgrimage national office with 36,000 surgical masks for pilgrims in Saudi Arabia, Echorouk has learnt.

  •
  • “The Algerian pilgrims will be examined for a week after they return home to check whether they have H1N1 virus or not,” said the same sources.
  • Health minister Said Berkat, minister of religious affairs Bouabdellah Ghoulamallah and head of pilgrimage national office Echeikh Berbara denied pilgrimage season ban following warnings against the spread of the virus among pilgrims.
  • “Algeria will take all the measures and step up preventive procedures for the Algerian pilgrims,” an official told Echorouk.
  • The pilgrimage national office is preparing for an awareness-raising campaign on the swine flu for people planning to perform pilgrimage.
  • All the Algerian pilgrims will be vaccinated against the ordinary flu and “they will be vaccinated against the swine flu if the vaccine is discovered before October.”
  • The accompanying medical delegation will be provided with all the preventive tools and sufficient quantities of anti-vial Tamiflu to face the pandemic in collaboration with Saudi authorities.
