Algerian president to inaugurate the university year

The dates of the masters’ exams in different universities across the county were fixed between 9-15 October spread over a day or two depending on the capacities of the campuses. The higher education ministry has created more than 7000 posts for this year’s session.

• The Algerian president Adelaziz Bouteflika is set to give the starter of the academic year2009-2010 from the Ferhat Abbas University in Setif (eastern Algeria) with the presence of high-level personalities including deans, professors and ministers.
•  Though the universities will open their gates on October, 4, officially, courses will start after the masters’ exams. The higher education ministry has launched new specialties including finance, management, and communication in a move to give a wide range of opportunities to a growing number of candidates.
• It should be noted that the number of universities across the country is estimated at 34 in addition to 13 university annexes as well as 4 Teachers Superior Schools.
• More than 1 million students are set to join universities this year.
