Algerian students live hell in Egypt

The Algerian students’ ordeal in Egypt is still continuing until now as confirmed by Echourok newspaper that got in touch with one of the students among the twelve who are currently besieged in Alexandria deprived of food and water.

  • Other students living in the popular compound called “Sidi  Bachir” are living under siege since the match that opposed Egypt to the Algerian side on November 14, and underwent attacks from overzealous Egyptians.
  • One of the students has declared to Echourouk that their fellow Egyptians at the University of Alexandria vowed to kill them if they dare to enter the campus. They demonstrated inside the university wrapping a coffin with the Algerian flag.
  • Hayet, went on saying that the” dean of the university has warned us not to come and he will not assure our security in case of assaults from the Egyptian students; this situation prompt us to stay at home in order to spare our lives”.
  • She further added that she tried along with her friends to get in touch with the Algerian embassy in Egypt but this later advised to return to Algeria. Hayet considers this solution as the worst one saying “ We are about to finish our Master studies and if we leave now that means we will put our studies at stake since the Egyptian authorities will not grant us visas in the future”.
  • Hayet has declared to Echourok that some students are suffering from illness but they cannot treat themselves because the pharmacists refuse to sell them medicines because they are Algerian citizens.
