Algerian students subjected to acts of aggression in Egypt … They call for help through “Echorouk”

A number of Algerian students who are following higher university studies in Egypt have appealed to President Abdellaziz Bouteflika to take urgent measures to put an end to the scathing ordeal they have been subjected to in Egypt since the Egypt – Algeria World cup qualifier played on November 14th in Cairo.

  • Several male and female Algerian students yesterday got in touch with the newspaper “Echorouk” to voice their deep concern and their helplessness in the face of the unwarranted wave of violence unleashed against the Algerians settled in Cairo and elsewhere by embittered and misguided Egyptians since the November 14th match in Cairo stadium.
  •
  • Mabrouk, an Algerian student who is preparing a master’s degree in Egypt said that he and several Algerian students had been the target of wanton acts of aggression in the Cairo district of El Maâdi, where they have rented a flat.
  •
  • Our interlocutor added that even Algerian female students had not been spared by this Egyptian hysteria of violence.
  •
  • Zineb, an Algerian student who is pursuing higher university studies in Egypt said that herself and several other Algerian female students had been subjected to physical assaults by Egyptian rogues.
  •
  • They have been molested and roughed up cowardly in the streets and even inside their flat in Cairo, she stressed with deep emotion and distress.
  •
  • She added that the Algerians’ calls for help and assistance on the Egyptian security services in Cairo had been totally ignored, adding to their great disarray and apprehension.
  •
  • As a result, the trapped Algerian students have launched through the newspaper “Echorouk” an urgent call on the Algerian authorities to ensure their protection and put an end to their nightmarish situation in Cairo and elsewhere in Egypt.
  •
  • They pointed out in their emergency appeal that they were now afraid for their lives on account of the unabated wave of hostility and violence unleashed against the Algerians living in Egypt since the explosive Cairo match of November 14th.
