Algerian-Tunisian Joint Projects in the Mining Industry

The Secretary of State to the Minister of Energy in charge of Mines, Karima Tafer, discussed bilateral cooperation and prospects for its development, particularly in the mining sector, with the Tunisian Minister of Industry, Mines and Energy, Fatma Thabet Chaiboub.
The meeting was held on Thursday, January 16, in the presence of Belkacem Soltani, CEO of the Sonarem group, and Abderrazak Khama, chairman of the Algerian Geological Service Agency’s Executive committee.
The meeting, held on the sidelines of the 4th International Mining Conference in Riyadh, allowed for a review of ways to enhance cooperation and partnership between companies in the two countries, as well as the exchange of knowledge and expertise, and what contributes to the implementation of joint projects that are mutually beneficial to both countries.
After renewing the accreditation of its laboratories, Sonarem looks forward to exporting its services.
The two sides also expressed, the Ministry of Energy said in a press release “their common will to enhance cooperation in projects that contribute to achieving sustainable development, especially in the field of exploration, exploitation and transformation of mineral resources.”
