Algerians Fight Against Houthis In Yemen Under The Pretext Of Studying Sharia

Judge of the Criminal Court at Algiers Judicial Council listened, on Tuesday, to two youth, 25 and 28, who are prosecuted on charges of belonging to a terrorist organization that is operating abroad, a case the involved three other people who are in the run in Yemen, on suspicion of belonging to the “Salafists” in Yemen for jihad against the so-called “Houthis”, by exploiting the pretext of studying Sharia sciences, but they are trained to take up arms and use them.

The facts of the case, according to the court’s public trial, on Tuesday, came after the Algerian intelligence services received information about the presence of Algerian students who joined “Sunni” groups and organizations that call for “Jihad” against Houthis in Yemen, and therefore, the security services arrested a person who was accompanied by a number of refugees who were evacuated in 2015 by the Algerian government, after the battles intensified on Yemeni territory.

During the hearing he admitted that there were people who traveled to Yemen, including the accused “A.R” a young man from the same neighborhood, in Algiers Beraki,, who travelled to Yemen to join Jihad there, and acknowledged that he went to the city of “Aden” in 2011 in order to obtain a graduation in Sharia Sciences at “Dar Al-Hadith” school, then he married a Yemeni woman, and stayed for 4 years, and he added that he was trained to use the “Kalashnikov”, after being assigned to guard the Education Center.

Security services used his statements before the investigating judge, and arrested the accused  “A.R” when he returned to Algeria at Algiers international airport, Houari Boumediene, and then he was placed in temporary detention, before bringing him to justice on charges of belonging to terrorist groups.

General Attorney insisted, during the arguments, on imposing a severe punishment, because of the seriousness of the facts, which the Court dealt with, on Tuesday, and after deliberations, some accused were sentenced to 10 years in absentia, and others were declared not guilty.
