Over 12 billion Algerian dinars (12 million Euros) are paid by Algerians per month to reload their phone cards while the purchasing power is terribly low, according to reliable source.

“It is unreasonable to talk about the low purchasing power with this increase in the allocated budget for secondary things in life including the mobile phone budget,” the same source told Echorouk.

“A total of 80 percent of phone mobile companies’ sales in Algeria come from reloading during the month,” it said.

The average time of reloading phone cards in Algeria is 55 minutes per month due to the low communication cost which is estimated at 10 dinars per minute while it reaches 30 dinars in Morocco, for instance.
