Algeria’s army seizes large quantities of weapons in Adrar
The National Popular Army forces Wednesday found out a hideout where a large quantity of weapons and ammunition was stored in Bordj Badji Mokhtar in the province of Adrar.
“The operation came as part of securing borders and countering terrorism. Thanks to the permanent vigilance of our armed forces, this operation enabled to catch eight machine guns, a hand-made bomb and 25 kg of explosives,” said the national defence ministry in a release on Thursday.
As part of countering terrorism, the army forces destroyed two hideouts of terrorists in the province of Batna and 10 mines in the province of Tizi Ouzou.
The ministry said border guards caught 760 kg of drugs in the province of Tlemcen while three range rovers and 1,780 liters of fuel were caught in the province of Tindouf.
The National Gendarmerie forces seized two vehicles in the province of Tamenrasset.
As part of countering illegal immigration, coast guards caught 75 people who were trying to smuggle themselves on three traditional boats in the sea north-west Ras El Hamra in the province of Annaba.
