Algeria’s cabinet meeting to approve election law
Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika summoned his ministers to a cabinet meeting on Tuesday. The last meeting was held six months ago.
Algeria’s interior minister Nourredine Badaoui Sunday said the cabinet meeting will deal with the adoption of the most important laws of the new Constitution.
The elections law will be amended four years after it had entered in force. The draft law contains changes on articles which need to be adapted only. Of them, the electoral system. The party which has the largest number of votes will be in charge of managing.
The meeting will also deal with the Higher Organization of Elections Surveillance. It was decided by the new Constitution following many requests during consultations about the Constitution.
A number of international conventions and economy-related laws will be approved during the meeting.
