Algeria’s Embassy In Rome Explains Procedures About Algerians Who Are Stranded In Italy

Algerian Embassy in Rome (Italy) announced several special measures to evacuate the nationals who are stranded in Italy and who cannot return because of the Coronavirus spread and the measures that accompanied it by the Italian authorities.
The statement of the Embassy of Algeria in Rome stated that, concerning renewing residence permits, those that expire between 01/31/2020 and 15 April 2020, remain valid until 15/06/2020, and this is according to the Legislative Decree No. 18 of March 17, 2020 (Decreto Cura Italia).
“Citizens with or without a visa, and given the temporary closure of immigration offices of the police services, the Algerians who are on Italian soil for short periods (with or without a visa), are not subject to any specific procedure, such as extending the visa, for example, explaining that continuing to reside in Italy beyond the authorized period due to a difficult situation, such as the absence of air links, will not have any legal effect and they only have to leave Italian territory once the current restrictions will be lifted.
