Algeria’s Sonatrach loses its position in the world’s biggest oil companies 2013
Forbes ranked Russia’s Gazprom, Rosneft and Lukoil among the top biggest oil companies 2013 while Sonatrach lost its position as its production and exploration operations decreased.
Forbes issued a list of the biggest oil companies in 2013 in terms of their production capacity. The US magazine was based on data from Wood Mackenzie Ltd.
Gazprom kept the second ranking as it produces 8.1 million (oil + natural gas equivalents) barrels per day. Rosneft came five compared to the last year as it ranked 15. Lukoil ranked 16 as its daily production is estimated at 3.2 million barrels.
Saudi Armaco ranked first with a 9.9 million barrel-production. The Iranian National Oil Company its third position as it produces 6.1 million barrels per day while ExxonMobil ranked fourth.
According to Forbes, Sonatrach’s production shrunk compared to previous years. In 2012, it ranked 12 with 2.7 barrels production per day.
Forbes said hydrocarbons exporting in Algeria went down by 10 percent in January-June 2013.
