Algiers Airport: Air Algérie Flights Diverted To Constantine Due To Thick Fog
Some Air Algerie flights which were scheduled to land on Thursday morning (March 2nd) at Algiers Airport were finally diverted to Constantine because of the density of fog gripping the whole province of Algiers, the airline said in a statement.
The thick fog also beset on Thursday the province of Oran in the west of the country.
Given that these planes couldn’t reach Algiers Airport, disturbances affected several flights including Budapest, Lyon and Lille that have been delayed because of these adverse weather conditions,” said the Company.
Air Algérie further assured that it will take all the necessary measures at the earliest “to ensure the transport of the passengers who have suffered inconveniences because of these delays which lasted over five hours”.
However, in a bitter reaction, some very disgruntled passengers, stranded for endless hours at the airport, went as far as to claim from the Company the right to financial compensation as provided for in the international civil aviation act.
