Algiers criminal court starts hearing terrorist group members

Four individuals involved in the bomb attacks that the rocked the region of Draa Ben Khedda ( 100 Kms east of Algiers) will today appear before the judge to face the charges they were accused of including the assistance to terrorist groups and supply them with products to fabricate explosive devices.

• The case, which that been called off during the last criminal session, will look at the strategies of the terrorists who operating in areas stretching between Boumerdes and Tizi Ouzou under the command of the so called Sofian Fassila, recently eliminated by the security forces during the operation baptised “ Elephants Horns”.

• Investigations revealed that the terrorists were collecting money through the kidnappings of rich families’ members and ask huge sums of money in return of their liberation.

• The terrorists were using codified messages to communicate and move from one place to another in addition to terrorist operations using Nitric Acid and Ammoniac in their explosive devices.

• One of the culprits that his contacts with the terrorist groups go back to 2006 when he was asked by the terrorist “Hamza” to provide his group ,which was operating in the mountainous regions of Boumerdess , with different stuffs. He kept in touch with till the day when Sofiane Fassila asked him to buy a car for him with a view of using it in their operations.

•  The man was arrested in a checkpoint on April 26, 2007.
