After 10 years of silence, Ali Benflis, a candidate for the presidential elections 2014 talked to Echorouk TV about important events in his professional life, his relationship with Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika and reasons behind his decision to resign from his position as head of government.

In an interview with journalist Mohamed Yakoubi, Benflis indicated important measures he took against fugitive multi-millionaire Abdelmoumen Rafik Khalifa before he resigned.

He also expressed his vision of the political situation and the future, saying he prefers not talking about past conflicts and focusing on proposed solutions for the crisis.

His response to recent remarks of Secretary General of Algeria’s National Liberation Front (FLN) Amar Saadani shows that he really represents a candidate of a wing in the regime. He rejected any criticism about the military institution.

Benflis also talked about his vision of the reconciliation, its promotion and his suggestions to solve the political crisis.

He said he resigned from the justice ministry in 1992 due to the desert camps issue.

He presented electoral commitments to the Algerian people if he is elected and he gave many details about his vision of Algeria’s future.

The interview will be broadcast in two parts on Friday and Saturday at 9:15 pm.
