Algeria should embrace the peace conference in Libya, leading to a political agreement on the lines of the Taif Agreement on Lebanon, which was sponsored by Saudi Arabia, Member of the General Secretariat of the International Union for Muslim Scholars, Ali Salabi, said on Wednesday.

Salabi added, in an interview with the agency “Quds Press”: “There is no solution to the situation in Libya only through a national conference for peace and comprehensive reconciliation that is sponsored by a neutral regional state and supported by the United Nations”.

“I personally think that Algeria is the most qualified country to take care of a Libyan comprehensive conference for peace and reconciliation, to be more like a dialogue of Taif agreement between the Lebanese, which was sponsored by Saudi Arabia, but in the case of Libya, it will be much easier than the situation in Lebanon, on the grounds that the situation in Libya is less complex than the Lebanese situation”.

According to the Libyan preacher; “If there will not be such a comprehensive national conference for peace and reconciliation in Libya, the unrest will remain master of the situation, and it would therefore go beyond the internal threats, that may become regional and international”.

Algeria leads mediation, since nearly two years, between the Libyan parties in order to launch a comprehensive dialogue to reach a political agreement to end the crisis.

Egypt and Tunisia are also under the moves in this direction, but it seems, according to observers from Libya to Algeria that is the only country that is accepted by all the parties, because it maintained the same distance between the various parties, since the beginning of the crisis.
