Ali Tounsi’s family releases communiqué

The assassination of the Algerian police Chief Ali Tounsi last week by one of his closest aide has sparked huge controversy and gave birth to as many versions as speculations over his killing, prompting his family to react through the following communiqué.

• Ali Tounsi’s cannot stay indifferent to the allegations that link his killing to personal conflict between him and his murderer; however, it forcefully denies these practices.
• Media has widely relayed that the crime “ was perpetrated inside  his office in the absence of witnesses for personal drives”.
• As a reaction to these groundless allegations, the martyr’s family staunchly denies this version and wants to make it clear that the late had no problems, neither with his killer nor with any other else.
• The condolences extended by thousands of people from the civil society prove that.
• Ali Tounsi’s wife and his family want to clarify the following:
• The late has been cowardly killed inside his office while he was preparing for a meeting wit top police officers.
• He died “ standing tall” as a militant, at the service of his nation as part of  his relentless fight against crime.
• The family would like to express its gratitude to the citizens for their support and sympathy. The man was upright and tolerant, may his soul rest in  peace
