The president of the Republic has designated an ‘administrative’ Government, said on Wednesday, May 7th, the Secretary General of the FLN party, Amar Saâdani.

“It is an administrative government and not a technocrat Government as it is surmised. Its mission is to manage some topical issues with on focus the planned revision of the Constitution,” Mr. Saâdani said at a press conference at the end of the meeting in Algiers with the FLN party’s local senior representatives (Mouhafedhs.)

The FLN party Secretary General hopes that after the projected revision of the Constitution, his party will hold sway within the Executive.

“We hope that this revision of the Constitution will allow the FLN party to spearhead the Executive. This is one of our basic requirements. We have never concealed that objective”, acknowledged Amar Saâdani.

He assured that the FLN party “will return to the Government after the revision of the Constitution”. “I assure you that we will be present in force after the overhauling of the Constitution”, he repeated.

In the newly-formed Government led by Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal, the FLN is represented by three ministers only despite the fact that it currently holds the majority in Parliament.

Mr. Saâdani further assured that the FLN “would not demand the dissolution of Parliament.” “This matter is the prerogative of the President of the Republic himself”, he stressed.

Regarding the information published of late by some media outlets on the property that he had supposedly purchased in France, Amar Saâdani said: “the French journalist who gave this information was a victim himself of a group of con artists. I am sorry for him. I filed a legal action and I have full confidence in French justice”.

Concerning possible sanctions against former members of the FLN leadership, summoned by the Disciplinary Committee of the party, Amar Saâdani refused to comment.

“Ask the disciplinary Commission about that”, he merely responded. “My role is just to convene the Disciplinary Committee to deal with the issue. The party’s Secretary General does not interfere in the work of this body”, he asserted.
