Amar Saidani’s foes gear up for the creation of a new party!
Opponents of the now re-elected Secretary General of the FLN party, Amar Saidani, are still pressing for the latter’s forced departure from the political scene, and decided to continue to apply pressure with on focus the projected formation of a new political entity to be called “FLN Bis”.
A host of prominent FLN party dissidents met on Sunday in El Biar district of Algiers to make a deep perusal of the new unfolding situation and to map out a new strategy in the wake of the holding of the tenth FLN party congress which they described as null and void as it lacked legitimacy, as they put it.
A senior member of the so-called “Readjustment FLN Movement” Abdelkrim Abada told “Echorouk” that the opponents of the current leadership of the party, were now in the process of gathering all the necessary data on the three-day proceedings of the recently-held tenth FLN party Congress which he described as a “carnival”.
He said that they would come up with a unified position, by coordinating all the efforts aimed at countering the outcome of the tenth congress , and initiating proper procedures to save the party from what he called “ a deep legitimacy crisis”.
This was earlier confirmed by Senator Saleh Goujil who said that the FLN militants opposed to the current party leadership embodied by Amar Saidani were now pooling their efforts and would outline a common position during a broad-based encounter to be held shortly.
He further stressed that Amar Saidani’s foes are bracing to file a lawsuit with justice to challenge the legality of the tenth FLN Party congress and its outcome, and will continue to fight with all available ways and means to restore “legality and legitimacy”.
For his part, former Central Committee member and former chairman of the lower house of parliament, Abdelaziz Ziari, blasted in a statement to the “TSA” news website, the current FLN party leadership saying that the cooptation of designated members to the party’s Central Committee including ministers is intended to mislead the national public opinion about the make-up of the government, thus confirming, he added, that the governing authority regards the country’s political parties as mere “back-up committees”.
As a recall, members of the new central committee of the National Liberation Front (FLN) on Saturday in Algiers reelected incumbent Secretary General Amar Saidani for a new term of five years.
Saidani was first elected as Secretary General of FLN in September 2013, replacing Abdelaziz Belkhadem.
After being reelected, Amar Saidani, 65 years old, addressed the audience saying that “the FLN has to be a guide, and this requires its members and its senior officials to live up to the mission of our revolution martyrs.”
Earlier in the day, Amar Saidani, who headed the party’s National Preparatory Committee for the 10th Congress, pronounced the list of the 504 members of the central committee of the party, after being approved unanimously by the party’s delegates.
