America Finances Six Projects In Algeria Worth $700.000
The US-Middle East Partnership Initiative announced, on Wednesday, that six projects that are linked to civil society organizations will be funded in Algeria in 2017 with a financial value of $ 700,000, ranging from $ 80.000 and $ 200,000 per project, as they are mostly directed for women and youth.
Director of the Regional Office in Rabat for the Middle East Partnership Initiative, Manu Bahala, said on Wednesday, during a press conference at the US embassy in Algeria, that the MEPI will fund in 2017 six local projects worth $ 700.000, at a cost ranging from 80.000 And $ 200.000 per project.
“The projects that were signed in 2017 are related to the development of enterprises, improving the environment and the economy, and is primarily linked to women and youth, and is expected to have a strong impact in Algeria, aims to fight unemployment, and seeks to dedicate local grants. It worked for 6 years in Algeria to develop 6 partnerships with civil society, citizens and even government and the private sector through a competitive process”.
“We are working as a catalyst for civil society organizations. We seek to solve the economic and social problems in the country, and we consider civil society projects and citizens to be more important”, said the director of the regional office.
“We are surprised by the results we achieved in Algeria thanks to this partners”, he added.
“Our goal is to receive youth from various disadvantaged groups and train them to enhance their ability to work and integrate into the labor market through vocational training, in addition to empowering Algerian women and supporting their increasing participation in social, political and economic life. Hundreds of women benefited from their legal and human rights, the way of combating discrimination, learning skills and financial independence”.
