An international network of drug traffickers busted by Algiers’ security forces

The first elements of the investigation carried out by the national gendarmerie of Algiers on the case of the 59 quintals of seized drug fond in containers, revealed that an international network of trafficker was smuggling the illegal substance from Morocco to Europe passing through Algiers.

  •
  • The smugglers were using names of disabled and old-ill people to issue trade records. The investigations revealed that the name of a cancer-hit individual was used to issue a document for the import of apples.
  •
  • Reliable sources revealed that the investigator have identified two drug barons operating in Algeria in collaboration with international networks. These two individuals masterminded the smuggling of 59 quintals of drug using containers at the port of Rouiba (Eastern Algiers).
  •
  • One of them took advantage of the hard social and health conditions of ill people to issue legal document using their names to exercise his activities as a retailer in processed foods.
  •
  • His acolyte is at large after breaking out of the prison of Nanteres (France) where he was put on charges of extortion. The inquiry revealed that these activities were just a lure to shift the interest on the smuggling of drug from Morocco to the province of Blida (50 Kms far from Algiers).
  •
  • The traffickers were stuffing the empty containers with the drug to be sent back to the port of “Fars” in Belgium. The choice of this destination was not fortuitous because a huge community of Moroccans is living there, playing the role of a backup network for this traffickers.
  •
  • The investigators have seized luxurious houses and cars in addition to big amounts of money in local and hard currency garnered thanks to this illegal business. Their properties were seized also in Morocco and Europe.
