Angry people shout anti-government slogans in Sellal’s rally

Jobless residents in the province of Ouargula (south of Algeria) Thursday surprised candidate Abdelaziz Bouteflika’s campaign director Abdelmalek Sellal by denouncing employment policy and called on government to settle their situation.

In a popular rally, angry people raised Bouteflika’s pictures and called on government to keep its promises in terms of employment.

Sellal criticized administration for bureaucracy and not implementing the government’s decision. He said the government will change its way of dealing with foreign companies, sub-contractors and Algeria’s energy group Sonatrach.

Some angry young people described him as a “liar who did not keep his promises” and criticized him for high unemployment rate in Ouargula.   

Sellal said all the officials who are behind employment problems in the province will be punished. At the end of the rally, he received unemployed young people’s representative.
