ANP Forces Retrieve Big Quantity of War Weapons in El Oued Region

A second terrorist hide-out was uncovered in the region of Kouinine, in south-eastern El Oued province, comprising a major quantity of weapons and munitions of war, while 14 terrorists were eliminated by ANP forces, the National Defense Ministry announced Sunday in a press release.

“After duly processing the information of the retrieved documents and after days of search operations under the Commander of the operational sector of El Oued and by resorting to detection means, a second cache was localized and discovered, on 15 April 2016, containing an important quantity of arms in the region of Kouinine, made up of 127 weapons of war of different types and a large quantity of munitions as well as 21 communication equipment,” said the source.

The ANP forces recovered three (03) mortars of 60 and 80 millimeters, six (06) FM-type machine guns, one (01) 12.7 machine gun and another 14.5 machine gun, four (04) RPG-7 rocket launchers, 108 Kalashnikov submachine guns and four (04) rifles with telescopic sight.

As regards munitions, the ANP army retrieved 95 mortar shells of 60 and 82 millimeters, 136 RPG rockets with 93 propelling charges, 35,014 bullets of different calibers, 54 offensive and defensive grenades, 6 anti-tank mines, 10 ammunition strips and 262 ammunition stores.

According to the National Defense Ministry, “these positive results achieved so far in the counter-terrorism struggle since late March demonstrate, once again, the staunch will of the valiant National People’s Army to thwart any attempt designed to deal a blow to the integrity of the national territory as well as its firm determination to continue to protect the borders and to pursue resolutely the fight against the terrorism scourge in all circumstances and in every inch of the country. “
