Arab Countries Prohibit The Marketing Of Algerian Medicines

A lot of Algerian medicines are prohibited in the markets of many countries, even though the products of those countries are marketed normally in our country, which raises the ire of many national manufacturers who encountered obstacles of registration in foreign countries.

Algeria is facing rejection by the Arab world to market their medicines in a number of countries, although it gives them the opportunity to market their products in our country.

Director of pharmacy and equipment at the Health Ministry, Hamou Hafed, asserted that Algeria is conscious of this problem and coordinated with the Foreign Ministry for the compulsory mutual registration of medicines to lift this Arab embargo.

Representative of the Health Ministry announced on ministerial and governmental decisions for the lifting of all barriers and obstacles to export the Algerian medicines to Arab and foreign countries, as the Health Ministry intends, in collaboration with the Foreign Ministry, since 3 years ago, on the instructions of the Prime Minister, Abdelmalek Sellal, to adopte the principle of exchanging export and import of medicines.

“Beginning was with a number of countries like Tunisia, Saudi Arabia and even Cuba.Efforts are still ongoing to lift all barriers across all Arab and non-Arab countries for the benefit of national producers.”

“It is unreasonable that Algeria offers all facilities to those countries to register their medicines, while its national products are facing a ban in the registry and bureaucratic obstacles.”
